  • Environmental Education on the Internet
    EE-Link, a gopher and World Wide Web site for environmental education, is maintained by the National Consortium for Environmental Education and Training, with support from the EPA. The site is an immense resource for teachers and for all who support K-12 environmental education, such as media specialists, nature center staff and curriculum developers.
  • Florida Office of Environmental Education
    This office helps resource providers from agencies, businesses, and community organizations meet teachers' needs. The mission of the Office of Environmental Education (OEE) is to improve teaching and learning through environment-based education in Florida's preK-12 schools, colleges, and universities. OEE is based in Tallahassee and is administered by Florida Gulf Coast University. OEE develops and manages statewide programs, products, and services with state funding through the Florida Department of Education.
  • EcoNet's Education & Youth
    EcoNet is a primary Internet source for information about environmental non-government organizations (NGOS) from around the world. The EcoNet section here lists dozens of organizations egaged in environmental education.
  • North American Association for Environmental Education
    This major association of environmental educators hosts conferences, publishes professional journals and promotes environmental education to the general public.
  • World Resources Intitute's Environmental Education Project
    The World Resources Institute, a leading non-governmental organizaton, launched its environmental education program in 1993. The site contains high-school Teacher's Guides (some adapted for use by educators outside the U.S.), a "slide show" of environmental trends, and News and Notes in Environmental Education.
  • The Florida Center for Environmental Studies
    The Florida Center for Environmental Studies, representing the ten Universities of Florida State University System, was created to synthesize and communicate knwoledge in the management of Florida Ecosystems and other tropical and sub-tropical water dominated freshwater and estuarine ecosystems worldwide.

    Located in Worcester, Massachussetts, the New England Science Center is a regional environmental museum and wildlife center committed to fostering community awareness of, and engagement in, environmental education and conservation.

    Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) is a worldwide network of students, teachers, and scientists working together to study and understand the global environment. Students in more than 30 countries conduct measurements and observations at their schools and share their data via the internet with other students and scientists around the world to detail an environmental picture of the globe.
  • Global Rivers Environmental Education Network (GREEN)
    GREEN began in 1984 with a group of high-school students concerned with the pollution in the river running next to their school. Today, GREEN works with business, government, community, and educational organizations in 135 countries to support local efforts in watershed education and sustainability.

  • UCLA Ocean Discovery Center
    Operated by the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and open to the general public as a science museum, the UCLA Ocean Discovery Center is a marine science learning center serving K-12 classes from schools in the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Voyage Publishing Science and the Environment Electronic News Summary Magazine
    This bi-monthly magazine specializes in providing world news summaries on environmental issues. Designed for high-school and university teachers and students, stories are written in a concise format - complete with colorful photos and graphics.
  • Ocean Planet, a traveling Exhibition
    Produced by the Smithsonian Institution, this traveling exhibit is the centerpiece of an environmental education program that includes a national tour of the exhibition, publications, special events and this on-line companion exhibition.

The Florida Environment produces daily radio and Internet broadcasts, transcripts and "More Information" on daily script topics. Our subjects include just about anything you can think of in the Florida environment (and if you can think of something we haven't covered, we'd appreciate the suggestion...) Whether you're dealing with the sciences, current affairs or Florida history, The Florida Environment supplies information you can use in your classroom.

We want The Florida Environment to be a part of your classroom. You can tune in live to our daily radio broadcast, tape the program for replay during your class, play the RealAudio version of the program right from the radio page of our website or print out the program scripts for classroom distribution.
